This year will be the first time in 14 years Nokia’s name is not top of the list, according to analyst IHS iSuppli. That honour will go to 2011′s runner up: Samsung.

IHS predicts global smartphone shipments will rise by 35.5 percent this year, while overall cellphone shipments are expected to rise by only around 1 percent. This rapid smartphone growth will push 2012 smartphone penetration to 47 percent, up from 35 percent in 2011, it predicts.

Games with Ambient Soundtrack

Few games are currently designed from ground up for touch screen. Almost all are adaptation from console or desktop PC where action are controlled via joystick or keyboard, not very touch screen friendly. But interesting touchscreen games start to emerge. Popular are finger action puzzle, such as Angry Bird/Bejeweled, and the other are tower defense and point defense RTS. Simple RTS is worth checking. From games point of view, they aren’t as deep as desktop games yet, but soundtracks are great. Much more enjoyable than desktop or console because tablet has much better sound system and closer to ear.

Few noteable are: Osmos HD, Eufloria HD, Petri (more here)

Sharp Aquos Full HD 1080p

Second 5 inch screen in the market

” Sharp has launched the Aquos Phone SH930W, which sports a 5-inch Sharp IGZO display with a Full HD resolution, in Russia, for a price of RUB21,900 or about €540.

The Aquos Phone SH930W was expected to launch in the country last month but was apparently delayed, and has instead made it to the market just in time for Christmas. It is powered by a dual-core Snapdragon S4 processor with Adreno 225 GPU (1.5GHz Qualcomm 8260A), making it the first 1080p device to not sport a quad-core Snapdragon chipset inside, which does make me think how well that full HD resolution will be handled.” theandroidsoul

Very curvy. I wish they put better back plate.
